Assistant Management Accountant - Hereford

Element Recruitment is working with a well-established, family-run business based in Hereford. As they continue to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Management Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a close-knit, dynamic setting and is passionate about contributing to a successful, family-orientated business.

Salary - £30,000 - £35,000 + study support

Location - Hereford, Office based 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process to ensure financial targets are met.
• Perform cost analysis and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
• Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and other regulatory submissions.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure optimal financial health.
• Collaborate with internal teams to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
• Provide support during year-end audits and liaise with external auditors as required.

About You:

• Qualifications: AAT qualified or working towards ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent).
• Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an SME or family-run business.
• Skills:
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the business.
